PUNJAMMIES™ Photo Shoot is a Success!
On Saturday, May 1, the IPP team assembled to take some new product photos of our most recent shipment. The photos and products are up on the web at the online store.
A fantastic team of volunteers came out to the beach for the first half of the day. It was a great time of sun and camaraderie while celebrating the incredible work of the ladies at IPP's sewing center and the work of the ladies at Freeset™, where the new T-shirts sewn made and screen printed.

The team sets up for a shot

Mid-April PUNJAMMIE™ Shipment Delayed
The PUNJAMMIE™ shipment we expected to receive in mid-April has, unfortunately, been delayed because of the erupting volcano in Iceland.
The IPP office hopes to have the delay resolved as soon as possible. Those who are waiting for an update to the online store can sign up for the mailing list here. We will be sending out a notification when the items have arrived.
Thank you for your patience.

IPP Supports iSanctuary Gala
On Saturday, April 10, 2010 International Princess™ Project participated in iSanctuary at Sawdust, iSanctuary's Gala in Laguna Beach, California.
Similar to IPP, iSanctuary is a social enterprise helping survivors of human trafficking.
It was a chilly evening warmed by the presence of other organizations fighting to end human trafficking, slavery, and forced prostitution. A big thanks goes out to iSanctuary for inviting IPP to come and to our friends 31 Bits and Krochet Kids for being our booth neighbors. Thanks to all for bringing global concern, support, and enthusiasm.

New PUNJAMMIES™ will arrive at the IPP office next week. They feature our most lounge-friendly fit yet and are our first official collection from our Ashraya sewing center.

The ladies at Ashraya have been in training for the past several months. They are brilliant, capable women and have responded to the training with enthusiasm. The progress they have made in the past several months is astounding -- the quality of the PUNJAMMIES™ speaks for itself.

The PUNJAMMIES will be available for purchase on the online store, http://www.punjammies.com, just as soon as they arrive at the office. Thanks, Ashraya Ladies, for your determination and enthusiasm!

It Lets You Hope
Sitting in the lobby of our Mumbai hotel last week, I picked up a magazine to thumb through as we waited to depart for an afternoon of fabric shopping for upcoming lines of Punjammies.
The magazine fell open to a double page spread advertisement for Dove shampoo. The only text on the page was this phrase in bold white letters: “It Lets You Hope.”
As I stared at the phrase on the magazine page, I couldn’t help but wonder what it is about Indian culture that would make the promise of hope an appealing ad campaign. Even among the more affluent Indian women who are reading magazines and buying Dove shampoo, are the longings for hope so deep that even advertisers are trying to harness that power?
I do know that the need for lasting hope lies at the root of every human heart. Judging simply by the things I witnessed with my own eyes in India over the past two weeks, this is a country where millions of women are moving through life without a shred of that basic human need. And that knowledge alone gives me a renewed zeal to fight with any resource I have available to introduce real and lasting hope to women in India.
The good news: I saw that genuine hope reflected back to me from the eyes of the ladies working with International Princess Project and other similar organizations in India. There is real transformation happening. And that is a brand of hope all its own.
