2011 Fabric of Freedom Gala a Huge Success

THANK YOU!
This year’s fourth annual Fabric of Freedom Gala was a huge success. It was a night that truly shed light on the global issue of human trafficking and how International Princess Project is playing a vital role in that movement.

A sold-out crowd gathered at the Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, for the evening’s festivities, which included delicious fare, cocktails, silent and live auctions, traditional Indian dance and artwork, henna, and other surprises for guests. This special event is IPP’s single largest fundraising event, raising well over $75,000 [net], toward our efforts to help women and girls escape trafficking and forced prostitution, and to provide them with freedom and the tools for a new life.

Supporters were awed by the Kaavya Collective Dance Troupe, as they gave a glimpse into the beauty that India possesses through a Bollywood dance number. Later in the night the beauty was juxtaposed against the grim reality of those living in forced prostitution in India and around the world. Guests were challenged to become advocates and to tell others about this injustice. At the same time, reports and videos of women who are now living with hope and dignity brought the room to tears. It was a night marked by both mourning and celebration.

Shannon Keith, Founder, and Julie Wood, Executive Director, of IPP, shared about where the organization has been and where we are going, but most important, they spoke of the critical need for more partners to stand behind the cause. Maya Patel of the Tarsadia Foundation shared how their family is pleased to support IPP both with time and financial backing. Bob Miller, auctioneer and friend of IPP, did a tremendous job with engaging the guests in silent and live auctions that were more than about things, but about saving lives. These profits will help IPP increase the number of women working in their sewing centers and help support the organization’s increased need for infrastructure development.

It was a memorable evening for all in attendance. We are so grateful to our committee, partners, volunteers, and staff who made the night a reality.
