International Princess™ Project Initiatives
International Princess™ Project currently implements two initiatives working towards the vision of restoring hope and dignity to women formerly enslaved in prostitution. The PUNJAMMIES™ Initiative creates a self-sustaining enterprise which provides needed jobs for women and the resources for their healing and restoration. The Advocacy initiative raises awareness in the United States of the problem of prostitution and human trafficking around the world and helps mobilize people to take action.
PUNJAMMIES™ Initiative
Removing women from red light districts and brothels is only the first step of restoration. Many of the women rescued have no home or family to return to nor way to provide food and shelter for themselves or their children, forcing them to return to prostitution in order to survive. In order to truly restore the dignity and hope for these women, comprehensive after-care is necessary. Restoration can take years and limited resources can limit access to care for these women.
IPP partners with organizations who work on the ground in India to provide safety and care for these ladies. Working together with these strategic partners the PUNJAMMIE project is able to address the real needs of the ladies in a way that is helpful and truly empowering.
The PUNJAMMIES™ Initiative is self-sustaining enterprise which greatly enhances the quality of after-care provided by partner organizations and increases their capacity to serve these women. It leverages PUNJAMMIES™, a premium brand of pajamas, in the United States, to create demand for products made by women in after-care. Not only do the proceeds from PUNJAMMIES™ provide wages for the women who make them, they also provide for living expenses, savings and after-care costs. In addition, creating the beautiful PUNJAMMIES™ by hand helps build their self-esteem and dignity by demonstrating they can create something that has value around the world. The vocational training provided at the International Princess™ Project sewing centers becomes a part of their emotional healing in addition to a way to make a living and provide for their children.
